Endless variations of light-weight asymmetrical silhouettes flowed down the runway on models in cream tights paired with ankle-strap booties at BCBG Max Azria Fall 2010. From a sea of blues, black, gray and khaki, designers Max Azria and wife, Lubov focused more on the customer and less on the fantasy.

The clean and modern inspired collection translated into draped streamlined dresses and tunics accented with pops of acid yellow and silver. The color-blocked silk wraps often came cinched with wide elastic belts and layered over whisper-thin black knit tops.

If you looked beyond women’s answer to the recession, another storyline lurking around the corner were smatters of sequins and sheer pleats. The Nighttime glam gave way to a subtle sequin halter dress and a gunmetal sequin dress lined with tulle.
