My name is Andrea Ayala. I am a 22-year-old college student, soon-to-be-college-graduate, with a sense of adventure that is only matched by a definite sense of practicality. Hmm, seems to be an oxymoron, doesn't it? Well, nonetheless, I find that these two attributes coexist quite harmoniously and are, in fact, a great catalyst for creativity. I come from a small town in northern California, where "do-it-yourself" is not something you do to be trendy, but is just a way of life.
Fashion became an interest of mine after I started attending a tiny private school that required school uniforms. I had not cared much about my appearance before, but suddenly standing out and being an individual became key. Belts, scarves, jewelry--these were all simple, but surefire ways to dress up an otherwise boring outfit. My new favorite hobby became scouring thrift stores for hidden treasures, my favorite finds up until now being a vintage Prada purse and a double strand of beautiful faux pearls. When it comes to fashion, I have learned that "do-it-yourself" comes a long way when supplementing your wardrobe.
