My name is Angel Velez, Ms. Velez if you’re fierce! I’m a 25 year old fashionista from California. I think my mom created a fashion monster at age 2. I don’t know if it was the fact that she had several sets of clothing for me since I can remember ranging from my play clothes, to my school clothes, to my church clothes; and it didn’t stop there either she had categories for my shoes too! It also could have a lot to do with the fact that she herself was addicted to clothing, her vice was shoes, shoes, and did I say shoes?  I was her little doll to dress up and it just stuck with me.

I grew up in a single parent home and when I got to my senior year in high school I knew I wanted to go to college and major in something fashion related. So I pleaded with my mom to let me pursue my passion, but since she’d be paying for college, she’d have the final say. Though my mom was a fashionista herself, she strongly believed there was not a stable future in the fashion world and told me it was a good hobby for me rather than a career. And while I followed the path she carved out for me, I never strayed away from my true passion. 

I remember finally working up the nerve to strike out on my own and move to San Francisco, California and enroll myself into the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. I was sooo excited! I didn’t know I could actually LOVE school! What a concept! Now here I am an FIDM Alumni and with a few notches on my belt. I currently work as a wardrobe stylist and keep up a weekly fashion blog site. I’ve always had a knack for writing and I truly enjoy sharing my enthusiasm and knowledge for fashion with others. I’m so glad I chose to follow my dreams; living in the path I've chosen for myself is so much more fulfilling!
