My name is Anthea (Ann for short) & I'm from Birmingham, Alabama. I'm a full-blooded Greek with a very noticeable southern twang (& before you ask: no, I can't speak Greek; yes, I have been to Greece; no, I don't know that random Greek person you met at a bar in Minnesota; yes, I have seen "My Big Fat Greek Wedding;" & yes, I do celebrate Christmas). I moved to San Francisco in July of 2008 to study Fashion Marketing at the Art Institute of California- SF. Before attending art school, I was studying at the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a focus on English & Creative Writing.
Aside from fashion & writing, I enjoy music (listening & creating), painting, surfing, & taking random road trips to places without big buildings. I love the outdoors & use nature as my muse. I'm very outgoing & find it very easy to strike up a conversation with just about anyone who I cross paths with. A few of my favorite designers consist of Marc Jacobs, Nicole Miller, & Zac Posen. My two favorite authors are Mark Twain & Nick Hornby. I think "Almost Famous" is the best movie ever; I pull most of my style & creativity from every character in that movie.
Fashion plays a huge role in my life: it's way for me to express myself without having to say a word. It's an expression of freedom & creativity. With each place I have lived (San Francisco is my 10th city over the past 5 years), my style has changed. Every time I move, I find it very easy to reinvent myself & play with my style. Being a fashionista is fun, exciting, & always entertaining.
This is my first time as a fashion writer. I'm very excited to have the chance to combine two of my greatest loves & inspirations.
I hope you think I'm as funny as I do.
